Allied health professionals, also known as AHPs, are a diverse group of clinicians who provide high-quality care to patients and clients across a wide range of care pathways and in a variety of different settings. Some examples of Allied Health Professions (AHPs) include clinical laboratory personnel, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dietetic services, medical record personnel, radiologic services, speech-language pathology and audiology, and respiratory therapy. Not included are medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, dentists, or podiatrists. They are essential to the functioning of today’s medical and social care systems in our society.
